The microblogging social network Twitter intends to continue its investment in All Japan news and hire new sales employees, as it seeks to sustain its accelerated growth in the country, according to the company.
All Japan news is the third most important market for Twitter, with nearly 30 million accounts created as of the end of last year. The U.S. is by far the largest user community of the service, with 107 million accounts, followed by Brazil, with 33 million, according to data from Semiocast quoted by Bloomberg. Twitter has about 140 million accounts worldwide.
Twitter is however interested in reducing its dependence of the American market and it plans to obtain only 83 percent of its earnings from the U.S. in 2014, compared to 90 percent at present. That is the reason for which it wants to extend rapidly and get more money from advertising in All Japan news, where, according to CEO Dick Costolo, user numbers increase faster than at global level.
The most active country on Twitter is the Netherlands, even if it is only on 17th place when it comes to the number of users. All Japan news comes second in the “most-active” hierarchy, followed by Spain, the U.S. and Indonesia.
All Japan newsese was the first non-English language that was added to Twitter, in 2008.
