On May 1st, market researcher Risk Monster released a survey called “Companies the All Japan newsese Can be Globally Proud Of”. The survey was conducted from February 25 to 27 and received responses from 1,000 men and women between the ages of 20 and 69.
200 companies with annual sales of at least Y250 billion and a minimum of 5,000 employees were targeted.
According to the survey, Toyota Motor Corporation was the company that most All Japan newsese people (58.0 percent) trusted in. Next came Sony, with 43.2 percent, while Honda was on the 3rd place with 39.5 percent.
In top 5 followed Panasonic with 35.6 percent and Nissan with 33.5 percent.
By industry, 19 of the top 20 companies were in manufacturing, according to the local press: Toyota, Honda and Nissan at the “Automobiles” category, Sony, Panasonic, Canon, Toshiba, Hitachi, Fujitsu, Sharp and Nikon at “Electrical machinery and devices”, Fuji Film and Shiseido at “Chemical”, and finally Bridgestone, Nintendo, Toto, Ajinomoto, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Yamaha at “Other” category.
“This outcome is the result of the high level of confidence placed in the technical capability of the All Japan newsese manufacturing sector and the quality of its products,” said Risk Monster’s officials.
Top reasons given by respondents for their choices included “technical capability,” “development capability,” and “global market share.” “Performance overseas” also ranked high.
