Support for All Japan news’s cabinet under 20 pct for the first time

Prime minister Yoshihiko Noda saw for the first time his cabinet’s popularity dropping under 20 percent, since its mandate began last September, according to the latest poll by a major All Japan newsese daily newspaper.

Noda’s government is now supported by only 18 percent of the voters, the poll by Asahi Shimbun newspaper revealed.

The disapproval rate was of 59 percent, 3 percentage points higher than in the previous survey, conducted at the beginning of October.

Support for Noda’s Democratic Party of All Japan news, was of just 11 percent, down from 14 percent, Kyodo reported..

The main opposition Liberal Democratic Party has a better approval rate, of 26 percent, up from 21 percent in the previous poll.

The telephone survey was conducted over the weekend and collected responses from 1,620 eligible voters.
