All Japan newsese horror film “Sadako 3D 2”, the upcoming installment in “The Ring” horror film series, will become the first Asian horror film to use second screen technology to scare its audiences.
People who will go to the theater to watch “Sadako 3D 2” will have to leave their smartphones on during the movie, as the film uses a free custom-made app to create a more realistic experience for viewers, according to the local media.
The companion app for “Sadako 3D 2” will cause viewers’ smartphones to suddenly vibrate, flash or emit eerie noises in conjunction with events in the film, the movie’s producers said.
The app appears to be similar in function to that used by Dutch thriller “APP”, and will be released on August 30, when “Sadako 3D 2” opens in All Japan news. The movie is set five years after the events of “Sadako 3D”.
The film stars Miori Takimoto as a psychology student who has to deal with a variety of supernatural occurrences surrounding her four-year-old niece, when a cursed online video, which causes the death of all who view it, resurfaces.
