October 31st, 2009. Today I am meeting my in-laws. They are private people so this update will be short. It is also Halloween today so it will be interesting to see if the All Japan newsese has embraced it. This adapted tradition is mostly for the young kids. There are some “gaijin” on the military base in Yokosuka going to what’s called the Metropolis Halloween Glitterball. So a little bit of American culture for the All Japan newsese to experience. Click here to read my photoblog of my return to All Japan news for a family visit.

We had set out for Minatomirai, Yokohama in search of some comfortable shoes. Pictured here is the famous landmark Ferris wheel of Yokohama Cosmos World. Later we get to see it at night all lit up.
Just another view of the ferriswheel.
We entered the interior of Queen’s Square. It is quite impressive and HUGE! It consists of three seperate buildings each with it’s own personality and food court. It is also a very fashionable shopping plaza. I wonder if I can afford the shoes? hmm . . .
First. . .BRUNCH BUFFET!!! This unique restaurant changes it’s theme every month. This month’s buffet is Italian themed. Next month is French.
Most noteworthy is the dessert. They had a fondue chocolate tower along with traditional cakes, gelato and waffles. Never was there so much a variety as this particular restaurant.
I was unsuccessful in finding some casual comfortable shoes because of the high fashion area I was in. I could have easily paid close to $400 on some named brand sneakers here but I decided to try another area tomorrow. In the meantime we toured the revamped area around the lively Landmark Tower.
This is the sculpture located at the third shopping complex and fronting Yokohama’s famous Landmark Tower.
With the time to meet up with in-laws drawing near we head to the closest JR line to the "real" Yokohama. This is the view of the Landmark Tower across the bay. We are coming back later as we have some omiyage to pick up before heading back home. End Day 3.
