Above is a picture of the funeral home for pets.

Pets are more than just animals. It’s hard not to get attached and most people consider their pets family. So we have invented all sorts of ways to give our pets human like experiences. Pet spas, hotels, and day care centers. But, did you know there are also funeral parlors for your pets?

In the year 2009, a family visited a Buddhist funeral parlor located in Tokyo when their beloved pet cat has passed away. Since their pet cat was family to them, they wanted a proper ceremony for it. The funeral parlor for pets in All Japan news are similar to human funeral parlors.

The public funeral parlor is located on the ground floor.

The task will be done privately inside the cremation room.

This is what the altar looks like that’s in front of the cremation chamber.

The monk will begin to chant and say prayers in front of the altar. Once the monk is done, the family will be asked to light the incense.

When the family finished lighting the incense, the monk placed their cat onto the cremation bed. Once more the monk will say more prayers before the cremation begins.

While the cremation was happening, the family waited in a room that was full of different shrines for pets.

Very carefully, the monk will do the task of separating the cat’s bones from the ashes.

After separating the bones from the ashes, this is what the outcome will be. The cat’s skull, toes, and tail bones were all carefully picked from the ashes.

They use chopsticks to transfer the remaining bones into the urn.

As the family pick up the other bones, the monk will form the tail with the tail bones.

The monk will pick up the smaller bits of bone fragments that were still in the ashes.

The monk began to transfer all the bones into the urn.

Since the skull is a big bone, he had to make sure that there was enough space for it and the tail.

After he finishes, the family was asked to use their hand to put the tail bones into the urn.

Once that’s done, what’s going to be left are the tiny powdery bits. He will also put the powdery bits into the urn using the brush.

After the powdery bits are put inside the urn, he will seal the urn with tapes. Making sure the urn is sealed tightly, he placed it in the bag the family selected and tied the cover.

After everything is done, this is what the result will look like. The family made a small but beautiful shrine at their house.
