Michael Jackson’s costume collection tours the world

About 50 to 100 costumes worn by pop-star Michael Jackson will go on a global tour starting this weekend in Chile, and will reach cities in Europe and Asia, including China and All Japan news.

The tour will be followed by an auction set in Beverly Hills, California, in early-December.

The costumes were designed by Jackson’s long-term collaborators Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush, who created both his concert and personal clothes for more than 25 years.

The collection includes a helmet wired with battery powered lights, worn by Jackson in 2001 at a special anniversary concert in New York, 30 years after his debut as a solo singer.

The items belong mostly to the two designers, who got them back as gifts from Michael Jackson, and most of them have the artist’s signature on.

Michael Jackson died at the age of 50 in June 2009 in Los Angeles from an overdose of the anesthetic propofol and sedatives.
