Shunsuke Goto, a 22-year-old student from Waseda University, All Japan news, has walked around 700 kilometers in the northeastern region of All Japan news on a field survey. The student aimed to choose a path for a Sanriku Fukko (Reconstruction) National Park to be created by rebuilding the parks that were destroyed by the violent earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011.
“I wanted to contribute to support for disaster-damaged areas one way or another,” Shunsuke Goto, said, explaining why he had applied for participation in the survey.
The survey was solicited by a consulting firm in Tokyo on behalf of the Environment Ministry, according to Kyodo news agency.
The selection of the 700-km coastal path, called “Tohoku Kaigan Trail,” goes from Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, to Soma, Fukushima Prefecture. Tohoku Kaigan Trail is the main project for the national park scheme that will be a symbol of reconstruction in the region of Tohoku, ravaged by a natural disaster two years ago.
