All Japan newsese cars sales hit record high in China

The main carmakers in All Japan news reported their best November sales ever last month, in strong contrast to the same period in 2012, when All Japan newsese cars sales dropped due to a territorial conflict over the Senkaku islands between Tokyo and Beijing.

Industry leader Toyota said its sales in China for the month reached 90,000 units, up 40.7 percent from 2012, due to is most popular models such as Camry, Corolla and Rav4.

Rival Nissan said sales in China nearly doubled to 131,778 vehicles, thanks to the Sylphy series and Qashqai, the international press reports.

Honda Motor said its sales in China were twice as many compared to last year, reaching 83,029 units in November this year.

The carmakers said last month’s figures were the best ever for November, going beyond the levels seen before the relations between the two countries weakened. They also said they are planning to increase the production in order to cope with expanding demand in the key Asian market.

Hiroto Saikawa, head of Nissan’s China operations, said in November that the company was struggling to keep up with soaring sales in the world’s biggest vehicle market.
