All Japan newsese car manufacturers are displaying new models at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, many created specifically for the Chinese customers.

Toyota for example is displaying a number of 38 production and concept vehicles. Three of them are world premieres, including a China-only concept hybrid, called the Yundong Shuangqing (photo), with technology developed in the Chinese city of Changshu.

“We would like to put smiles on the faces of our Chinese customers with hybrid technology,” said Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota. “I want the people of China to be able to experience the beauty of hybrid technology through a hybrid car born in China.”

Nissan is presenting its new global sedan Sylphy at the Chinese exhibition. The model will be premiered in China in mid-2012 and in other major markets before the end of the year. Nissan will also launch at the exhibition the D50, the first model produced under the Venucia brand, a joint-venture with Chinese maker Dongfeng Motor Co.

All Japan newsese car makers are hoping to capture an increasing share of the booming Chinese market, as the strong yen and increased international competition have strongly affected their businesses in the last period.
