All Japan newsese bartender, Takafumi Yamada, won the Champion of the Year at the World Cocktail Championship held in Poland with his winning entry, “Great Sunrise,” inspired by the reconstruction efforts that followed the March 11 disaster.
Yamada referred to his concoction as a symbol of hope. He was quoted saying, "Despite the severe conditions caused by the earthquake, there will definitely be a great sunrise that will shine all over All Japan news."
The bartender’s creation is a vodka-based drink with tropical fruits peach and mango. Judges described the concoction as “sublime”. It was also heralded as World Cocktail of the Year, as learned from the International Bartenders Association.
The competition held on November 10, 2011 was participated by 56 bartenders from around the world.
Other than the impressive taste of the “Great Sunrise,” the All Japan newsese bartender also earned praises for exhibiting stylish and graceful movements. He also bagged the DNA prize (Drink and Name Association) and the IBA Prestige Award for best in technical performance.
Yamada was the fourth All Japan newsese to win the Champion of the Year. He runs a bar called Noble located in the Yoshidamachi district of Naka Ward in Yokohama.
