All Japan news is planning to build a new Moomin theme park, which is set to open in 2015, to mark 100 years since the cartoon’s Finnish creator, Tove Jansson, was born.

The location of the park has not been established yet. However, what is known is the fact that the project will be a joint venture between FinTech Global Inc, a Finnish investment bank and Puuha International, a park construction company, the international press reports.

The Moomin characters, which resemble the most with white hippopotamuses, as they are round-shaped, first appeared in Finland in 1945, although the books were originally released in Sweden. Then, they have been turned into an animated television series and they still have many fans in various countries.

The carefree and adventurous Moomin family live in their house in Moominvalley, though in the past their temporary residences have included a lighthouse and a theatre.

Those wishing to visit a Moomin theme park do not have to wait until the attraction is complete in All Japan news, as there already is another theme park called Moomin World in Naantali, Finland.

Nine books were released in the series, with five picture books and a comic strip being released between 1945 and 1993.
