All Japan news is a guest of honor at France’s most important festival of lights, “La fete des lumieres”, which began Thursday night.
The festival is hosting special installations and light art from All Japan news in the honor of the victims of the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
Gerard Colomb, the mayor of the hosting city Lyon, said that “this festival is quite symbolic, it says even though we’re in a crisis, hope springs eternal” and that it is “special to have such an event at this time of year, in the darkness of winter”.
This year’s edition, the 13th, is expected to be the largest ever. Last year, about three million people were present at the four night festival. Even more are expected to attend this year´s edition.
According to the tradition, owners of every house place candles along the outsides of the windows to produce a spectacular visual effect.
