A giant 200-inch 3D high definition screen that can be watched without special glasses is the largest auto-stereoscopic full HD 3-D display in the world, its All Japan newsese creators claim.
All Japan news’s National Institute of Information and Communications (NICT) and JVC Kenwood have cooperated to develop the screen. The 3D effect is created by an array of 57 projectors, each one separately tuned to display a certain degree of color and brightness.
The whole setup, which also includes a condenser lens that focuses light and a diffuser device that creates a smooth transition of the image, weighs almost 500 kilograms.
The creators say that even if the screen could be, in theory, used at home, it would most probably be preferred by digital signage companies for billboard-like advertisements and other design applications.
You can watch below a video presentation of the new screen.
