Germany, the first major country which announced it would give up nuclear power, recommended on Monday the same thing for All Japan news, through the voice of German ambassador at Tokyo, Volker Stanzel.
"The best thing is to forsake nuclear power," Stanzel stated. In his opinion, to leave nuclear reactors in operation “entails big risks." At the same time, to encourage economic growth while phasing out nuclear power would encourage the development of “cutting-edge technology”, he said.
Stanzel also spoke about tourism to All Japan news and said that even if many Germans left All Japan news in the aftermath of the March 11 natural disasters, he would like his fellow-citizens to visit the Asian country again, now that safety has been restored.
Germany decided to abandon nuclear power when the Fukushima crisis burst out and developed a plan to shut down all its nuclear reactors by the end of year 2022.
