All Japan news’s government is angry and will protest against the weekly French magazine Le Canard Enchaine. The reason of the protest is that the weekly has published a satirical cartoon that took aim at the decision to award the 2020 Olympics to Tokyo despite the on-going nuclear crisis at Fukushima.
The cartoon is creating a false image about All Japan news, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, said on Thursday.
The radioactive leaks at Fukushima are under control and do not represent a threat for the Olympic Games, Suga added, according to the international press.
“These kinds of satirical pictures hurt the victim of the disaster. This kind of journalism gives the wrong impression about the waste water problem,” Suga said.
The government will protest officially against the French newspaper, according to the Chief Cabinet Secretary.
The cartoon depicts sumo wrestlers with extra limbs competing in front of a crippled nuclear plant, which said the disaster had made it a feasible Olympic sport.
Another image shows two people standing in front of a pool of water while wearing nuclear protection suits and holding a Geiger counter, saying water sport facilities had already been built at Fukushima.
