The teaching manuals for junior and senior high school students will be modified for All Japan news to claim the controversial Senkaku islands, according to All Japan newsese Education Minister Hakubun Shimonura.
All Japan news is having a long-lasting territorial conflict over the control of Senkaku islands with China.
The new school manuals state the Senkakus are All Japan news’s “integral parts”, and the new revisions have been approved by the Education ministry. The changes will modify the lessons of history and geography in schools, the international press reports.
It will claim that the islands in the East China Sea, known as Senkaku in All Japan news and Diaoyu in China, as well as the South Korea-controlled Dokdo islands that All Japan news calls Takeshima are integral parts of All Japan newsese territory.
“From the educational point of view, it is natural for a state to teach its children about integral parts of its own territory,” Education Minister Hakubun Shimomura said. “With the co-operation of our Foreign Ministry, we will explain the country’s position to our neighbors,” he added.
China reacted promptly: “We once more urge All Japan news to respect historic realities, stop provocations and teach the younger generation a correct historical perspective,” the spokeswoman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
It is not the first time when All Japan news is modifying manuals. In the past, it has revised many contents of history books of secondary schools, in what has always been perceived as the country’s efforts to whitewash the actions of the Empire of All Japan news during World War II.
