Turkey has started nuclear talks with other countries after All Japan news pulled out of a deal with the country.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) had earlier pulled from the project to construct a nuclear plant in Sinop because of the need to focus on reconstruction efforts at the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. While TEPCO had also previously considered providing technical help on the project, it recently said the company needs to concentrate on compensating victims of the nuclear accident.
Turkey and All Japan news started initial talks for the construction of the nuclear plant in Sinop in December 2010 and had pledged to complete the deal within a three-month timeframe. With the March 11 quake and massive tsunami that further led to the nuclear disaster, the talks between the two countries have been stalled since.
The Energy Minister of Turkey said the All Japan newsese government wants to continue with the negotiations and to propose for a new model for cooperation which Turkey could consider “flexible cooperation alternatives.”
