The world gymnastics championships scheduled for October in Tokyo, will not be moved elsewhere since All Japan news is safe enough, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) decided on Sunday.

This is considered a big step for All Japan news in its race to be again seen as a global sporting center.

Figure skating world championship had been moved out of Tokyo, to Moscow, due to officials’ concern over toxic radiation after an earthquake and tsunami severely damaged in March the Fukushima nuclear plant, which is at about 150 miles north of Tokyo. Because of the movement, the competition was postponed by one month, to late April.

The FIG has however decided, after talking to experts and the organizers, that the gymnastics competition is safe to go on from October 7-16 in All Japan news’s capital city. The competition will be hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter, which is currently in Tokyo, was expected on Monday to announce whether All Japan news is safe enough to host the football Club World Cup in December, as previously scheduled. [AP via The Globe and Mail, AFP via Google News]
