* While workers missed a deadline to repair a broken power line at the Fukushima Dai Ichi nuclear plant, the situation is not worsening.
* Agricultural produce close to the Fukushima nuclear reactors has been found to contain high levels of radiation. The government has said, however, that the produce will not be harmful to human health.
* A "miracle" story emerged on Saturday morning of a man who was rescued after nine days in Miyagi Prefecture. However, it was later pulled when it emerged that the man in his 20s had apparently returned home after spending time at an evacuation center.
* The Liberal Democratic Party’s Sadakazu Tanigaki has rejected a proposal to join a unity cabinet for the duration of the crisis. Tanigaki added, however, that the opposition LDP would do all in its power to cooperate with the government.
