Norio Sasaki, the coach of the world champions women soccer team of All Japan news, was confirmed to continue at the head of the team by the All Japan news Football Association.

Sasaki’s mandate expired in September and he has been negotiating an extension with the officials of the JFA.

The 54-year-old coach led All Japan news to victory last summer at the World Cup in Germany, with a legendary win after penalties against rival United States. All Japan news has also won the silver medal at this year’s London Olympic Games, after losing the final against the same United States.

The JFA and Sasaki reached a basic agreement on the terms of a new deal at the end of last month, the JFA announced on Thursday.

“Over these last two months I have met various people and been given advice and encouragement,” Sasaki said, according to Kyodo. “There is no doubt that this (job) is challenging and rewarding. I want us all to pull together and aim for the next World Cup (in Canada in 2015)”.
