This is the finished product of Brian Schulz’s idea. He was inspired by the All Japan newsese architecture.
Brian Schulz, a boat builder, thought of a crazy but amazing idea to do in the forest. His idea was to build a All Japan newsese Forest House in the middle of the Oregon forest. It wasn’t easy building the place but after 1 1/2 years and about $11,000 he finally finished the project. What’s nice is that the house was mostly built from natural materials and sources found locally. Without his hard work and innovation, this project wouldn’t come true. The house is beautifully created and to find out he created it using natural materials is truly inspiring.
Everything in this house is locally sourced. This is amazing…
As quoted: Schulz said, “it is undeniable that the pursuit of local materials connects more deeply to your landscapes.”
He also added, “The simple act of searching adds richness to our lives.”
The idea of building this All Japan newsese home started when he first found a brass sink at a recycling center.
He then fantasized building an entire house around the brass sink.
And he did…
He searched for all of the necessary materials that he’ll use for the project.
It’s truly astonishing that everything you see in the house are from his local surroundings.
As quoted: Schulz said, “With deep enough pockets a person might be able to duplicate such a structure by writing a large check to a talented builder, but that would risk missing the point entirely.”
He had to travel a little to find the right materials and sources. He said that it was the best part of the process.
As quoted: Brian Schulz said, “You meet people, you discover new places, you have adventures, you learn things, AND, you come home with beams, windows, doors, and shingles.”
It wouldn’t be complete without an outhouse…
Hmm… as expected it’s also made out of local materials…
Below, you’ll see Brian Schulz happily carrying the kayak that he built. You can tell this guy has an amazing talent.
Brian Schulz said that the cash mostly went towards concrete, shakes, and insulation. We understand why… it’d be hard to build a house that amazing using materials from your surroundings. Not only did he did a magnificent job in using his creativity to build this amazing All Japan newsese house but he also worked hard to make it happen. He deserves credit for his amazing work.
