Bad breath and radiation savvy smartphone, developed by DoCoMo

All Japan newsese mobile operator NTT DoCoMo developed a smartphone that is able to measure radiation levels, body fat, but also bad breath.

The phone has three changeable “jackets” with sensors that help it scan users’ bodies or surroundings.

"We had been thinking what services we can provide to address these customer needs as a telecom carrier," a spokesman of DoCoMo said, referring to the fact that many people have been nervous about radiation since the March natural disasters that crippled the Fukushima nuclear plant.

One other jacket monitors if the user has bad breath or smells of alcohol and can also check levels of skin-damaging ultraviolet light.

A third case, called “health management”, can measure body fat.

The new technology will be showed at the Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies, a gadget fair near Tokyo that starts at the beginning of October.
