Saturday was a big day for hanami here in Tokyo, but I made plans two years ago to visit Tokyo Sky Tree when it was at the halfway-completed point and take some shots. I suppose people who’ve still got photos of the original Tokyo Tower while under construction always get a kick out of looking at them. Well, I guess you could see my thinking on this…
Plus, I’m about done with hanamis for awhile.
Anyway, when I saw Tokyo Sky Tree from my Shinjuku office, standing far away, a dark tower on the horizon, I knew that’d I be going there the coming weekend.
When I stood at the base, I was in awe at how massive the structure already is, even though half complete. I have to tell you that if you don’t go see the tower while under construction, you’ll never truly get a feel for how amazing a feat it is to put something like that up.
Anyway, I’ve included a couple of photos here… There are more at my website.
